Games
The rest of this page teaches you what the notes are. These seven drill the other half — getting your hands to find them without you having to think about it. Every one is scored and keeps a best, so there is something to beat next time.
Find the note
Learning where the notes live is the whole first hurdle. Black keys come in groups of two and three — that pattern is your map.
Intervals
An interval is the distance between two notes, counted in keys. Chords and scales are both just intervals stacked up, so this is the piece that makes everything else make sense.
Chords
Three or four notes at once. Browse the shapes to learn them, then switch to practice and build them from the name.
Scales
Ten scale types in all twelve keys, with the fingering worked out for each hand. The finger numbers under the keys are the point — the notes are easy, the fingering is what takes practice.
Progressions
Chords in sequence. Learn a handful of these and you can play along with an enormous amount of music — the same four chords come round again and again.
